The Revenue Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh on August 12, 2025, issued amendments to the AP Excise (Grant of License of Selling by Shop and Conditions of License) Rules, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In rule 2, after sub-rule (s), a new sub-rule shall be inserted (ss), it states the definition of " Permit Room".
• In rule 23, after the words "form A-4" the words "and for the Permit Room in form A-4 (B)" shall be inserted.
• After rule 24, a new rule, "Rule 24-A Permit Room" shall be inserted. It introduces "Permit Rooms" for A-4 liquor shops, allowing adjacent consumption areas (max 1000 sq. ft., no kitchen, only ready-to-eat snacks) with sanitation facilities, operational during shop hours, on payment of an annual Retail Excise Tax of ₹5–7.5 lakh depending on shop category.
